Capital Campaign News

Future Facilities Planning Committee Update:

On Sunday, October 28, 2007, the current capital campaign/building fund push will come to a close.  Does this mean we have met our mark?  Not necessarily!  It just means that we are taking some time to evaluate this portion of the capital campaign and make some decisions for the future.  I am very pleased with the current progress, not only by the amount of financial support we have received, but the number of individuals that have offered their support in other ways.  Many have offered prayers and assistance with future projects.

There have been two “markers” set to be met prior to beginning the building project.  The first marker is financial. We would like $1,000,000.00 in total pledges, and  we need $220,000.00 in cash-on-hand prior to committing to a loan.  We are very close.  We have  nearly $900,000.00 in total pledges and almost $200,000.00 in available cash.  The second “marker” is one of commitment. We would like to have a larger portion of the congregation respond to the campaign.  While we set no goals in stone, we suggested in our goals that 80% of the current membership would be a fair target.  Remember that prior to the current capital campaign push we had less than 25% of the congregation who had responded.  We have had a significant number of families respond to this campaign and I am very pleased.

We have several projects that will continue after October 28, 2007.  These include, but are not limited to: a coat drive; a bulb sale and a brick and memorial sale.  More information will be forthcoming.

Information about the building:

We have received a signature letter from the county relative to the site plan, which means we have received preliminary approval and just awaiting the signature on the dotted line.  It was quite a task to get this completed and thanks to everyone that assisted in helping this come to fruition.  An advance copy of the site plan has been given to our construction contractor, Whitner and Jackson, and they will be working on an estimate for the parking lot expansion.  My hope is that we can get this completed prior to the end of 2007, but it may be difficult.  We do not want to start construction prior to the 25th anniversary celebration which concludes on the 4th of November.  We do not want to start anything that will last past the middle of December due to weather concerns.  As you can see this is a very small window and we are trying our best to make it happen.

The building plans are completed, they 0have been submitted to the county and returned for some minor modifications.  I have instructed our architect to slow down the process because once we have an approved building plan and pull the permits, we have one year to build.  While our financial picture is improving, we are not quite there yet.

We have upcoming neighborhood meetings during which I will be presenting an update of our building project.  If you are interested in attending one of these events, please contact Edwin or myself.

If you have not done so already, please prayerfully consider what contribution you can make to the capital campaign/building fund, complete an affirmation card, which may be found in the Narthex,  and place it in the church located in the Altar area.  Prince of Peace needs you to make this project happen. We need  not only your financial support, but your emotional, physical and personal support!
We have adopted the following prayer request for this campaign and please consider it when you pray:

Pray for the Capital Campaign
Pray about your own sacrificial giving
Pray for our congregation to respond to the need
Pray that God would convict us and challenge us to be faithful in tithing

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact me at fbubenhofer@comcast.net  or whenever you may see me, I will be glad to discuss this project.  Finally, please remember that we are undertaking this project not for our glory but for God’s glory.  Consider how much more we could do to assist the community, to reach the unchurched and the nominally churched.  So many more people can be given the opportunity to find God at Prince of Peace. We can make a difference.  We are ready to build.  Please join us in this project.

Sincerely,

Kurt Bubenhofer

On August 18, 2007, the Capital Campaign/Building Fund Committee embarked on a reaffirmation and the re-energizing of the capital campaign. We had a dinner on August 18, in which many members of the congregation attended. During the dinner there were several testimonials given by members of the congregation who talked about how they found God at Prince of Peace. Additionally, I gave a presentation about the building project. I will be conducting this presentation again on at least 5 more occasions. There will be a presentation during the church picnic which is on Sunday, September 2. I will also be conducting the presentation during the 5th Sunday event at the end of September. The other three events will take place in neighborhood meetings. If you have not seen the presentation, please let Edwin or myself know and we will get you scheduled for one of the meetings or alternatively I will come to your house and present the information.

We have prepared packets of information regarding the building project and capital campaign. These packets are available in the Narthex on the table by the capital campaign bulletin board. Also on this table are order forms and pamphlets for the brick and bench memorials (you can get here) and the affirmation cards.(you can get here) You can see and get information on the brick, pavers, and bench memmorials here.

If you have not done so already, please consider what contribution you can make to the capital campaign/building fund, complete the card and place it in the church located in the Altar area. While we need financial contributions to make this project happen, we also need volunteers to help with brick sales and other activities. We also need your prayers. We have adopted the following prayer request for this campaign and please consider it when you pray.
